MLB's Dodgers to face Yankees in World Series for first time in 43 years



The Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB) have defeated the New York Mets to advance to the World Series (WS) for the first time in four years, setting up a “dream matchup” with the New York Yankees after 43 years.

The Dodgers defeated the New York Mets 10 to 5 in Game 6 of the 2024 MLB National League Championship Series (NLCS) today (Nov. 21) at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, behind the play of Korean-American shortstop Tommy Edmon.

Edman was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Series after a stellar performance in Game 6 of the Championship Series, going 11-for-27 (.407 batting average) with one home run, 11 RBIs, and a 1.023 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage).

Joining the Dodgers in the best-of-seven World Series will be the 27-time champion New York Yankees.

It's been 43 years since the last time the two teams met in the World Series, in 1981, and the first time in the 21st century that they've met on the dream stage, having met a total of 11 times in the 20th century.

This World Series will also feature a head-to-head matchup between two of the biggest stars in baseball, Shohei Ohtani (Dodgers) and Aaron Judge (Yankees).

The World Series between the Dodgers and Yankees kicks off with Game 1 on April 26th.
